It says "Can't read the ROM folder"

Android lost access to the folder. This usually happens after an SD card was removed, swapped or renamed. Open Settings › Library › ROM folder and pick the same folder again. Your games and play history come back once the scan finds them.

A game opens the wrong emulator, or none

Open Settings › Systems › (the system) › Emulator and pick the one you want. If it says "None of its emulators are installed", install one first. To get Clamshell's latest list of emulators, choose Settings › Systems › Update emulator definitions.

Scrolling feels slow

Set Settings › Performance › Performance mode to Lite. It turns off video previews and blur so browsing stays smooth on older devices. Settings › Look › Reduce motion also cuts down on animations.

When I go back to Clamshell, my game closes

It shouldn't. Going back to Clamshell works like the Home button: the game keeps running and you keep your place. There are two exceptions:

• RetroArch closes when you leave it. Quit from its menu to keep your progress. See

Saves.

• On two screens, one emulator can't run on both screens. Starting a game on the other screen

with the same emulator closes the first one.

Will updating lose my library?

No. Updates, and patron builds over the free one, install on top and keep everything. For a new device or a reinstall, set Settings › Library › Data folder and choose Settings › Library › Back up now. Restore with Settings › Library › Restore backup.

Clamshell crashed. What do I send?

If you've set a data folder, attach Clamshell/logs/crash.log from it. Also include the version from Settings › About. Settings › About › Report a problem shows where to post it (Discord). The log never leaves your device unless you send it.

If you don't have a data folder yet, set one under Settings › Library › Data folder. Then you'll have a crash log to attach next time.

Do my saves sync between devices?

Clamshell doesn't sync saves. For RetroArch, use RetroArch's Cloud Sync with RomM. See Saves.

Where's RomM?

The RomM add-on comes with patron builds. See RomM.

Is there a desktop version?

One is in development for macOS, Windows and Linux. It isn't released yet.

Does Clamshell come with games?

No. Clamshell doesn't include games or emulators, and isn't affiliated with any console maker.

Does it collect data?

No ads, no account, and nothing is sent unless you turn it on. Send crash reports and Share anonymous usage are off until you turn them on, in setup or in Settings › About › Privacy. The privacy statement lists exactly what they send and every other time Clamshell goes online.
